I think the most interesting thing about that video is that it seems many if not most of the regrets had to do with something someone did NOT do. It takes courage to act. It is so much easier to be passive and let life happen to you instead of the other way around.

Why is it so hard to act?

I know for me, it’s very simple. I’m afraid of making a mistake. I know God has good plans for me. I know he promised to directed my steps but what happens if I misstep? What happens if something throws me off track? What happens if I lose that path?

All of those doubts start tangling my thought until eventually they start tangling my steps. I figure the safest thing to do is to not move, not act, not take that risk, not have that conversation, not take that test, not allow myself to possibly make that mistake. Sounds safe, right? Better yet, it sounds downright easy!

It’s a trick. Plain and simple. If the enemy can make you too afraid to move, he can keep you from running your race and accomplishing anything for God.

Sometimes I think God is watching us in our stock stillness and waiting for us to DO SOMETHING!

Take that step. Make that mistake. Just give Him something to work with.

I can tell you right now, I’ve made my mistakes. I’ve tripped, fallen, failed and it was after I moved TRUSTING HIM ENOUGH TO CATCH ME that He was able to sweep me up and carry me to where I was supposed to be. Or, better yet, where I never deserved to be.

Don’t let your greatest regret be something you did NOT do. I’ll leave you with the words of Paul from Hebrews 12. He says, “let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us RUN with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith…”

Have faith in God. Have faith in yourself. RUN YOUR RACE WITHOUT REGRET!
